Welcoming guests since 1909, the Strand Palace Hotel boasts contemporary decor while still managing to showcase the hotel’s historic past in it’s superb design.
The history of the Strand Palace Hotel
A focus for political and financial powers, in 1907 permission was granted for a ‘grand’ new hotel and two years later, the Strand Palace Hotel opened its doors. At the time, a single bedroom with breakfast would have cost the equivalent of 27 pence in today’s money!
In the twenties, the hotel expanded and had a spectacular Art Deco redesign. During the Second World War, it became a primary place to stay for American Servicemen. Many vintage photographs and artefacts can be seen at the hotel or the V&A Museum, which owns the Foyer in the Strand Palace Hotel.
Unrecognisable to guests from the Edwardian era, some original features are still visible but modern touches have definitely been made to make the hotel what it is today.

Location is key for corporate events and this venue is perfectly situated, being accessible from The City, Docklands and Trafalgar Square. Facilities at the Strand Palace Hotel
A selection of stylish and contemporary suites are available, suitable for small meetings or large exhibitions and conferences for up to 250 delegates. All rooms are fitted with the latest audio-visual technology, including flat-screen TVs and projectors, as well as having air-conditioning and free WiFi.
The Exeter Suite is the largest room with space for up to 250 delegates attending a reception while the Grenvilles Suite is perfect for a small group of 50 people. With a large retractable projection screen included, the Nelson Suite is ideal for training sessions for up to 30 students and the Somerset Suite, with its fixed boardroom configuration seats eight corporate guests, making it a great option for more intimate meetings, break-out space or syndicate space.
The Foyer is another great alternative for break-out space, especially as refreshments can be arranged in this space.
Corporate Dining at the Strand Palace Hotel
Catering is important at any event and the Strand Palace Hotel have certainly got it covered with an array of menus to suit different types of events.
Morning refreshments and afternoon snacks are available for delegates. Yogurt pots and mini danish pastries are ideal from the breakfast menu and Cumberland sausage rolls and finger sandwiches are some of the options on offer to tide delegates over in the afternoon.
Choose four mains and one desert from the finger buffet lunches menu. A selection of main courses include Sticky Braised Beef and Smoked Mash, Panzanella Salad, Grilled Salmon with Rice Noodles and Shredded Vegetables and a range of tempting desserts featuring Strawberry Eton Mess and Lime Crème Brûlée and Orange Tuiles are certain to keep guests and delegates happy!
Perfect for more formal occasions, the banqueting menu offers event organisers the option of three example menus to chose from; starters include Apple and Parsnip Soup and Devonshire Crab, Avocado and Grapefruit, mains include Ricotta and Spinach Tortellini, Seared Sea Bass Fillet and Beef Fillet with Fondant Potatoes. And no meal would be complete without something sweet! Choose from Lemon Cheesecake with Roasted Plums and Raspberry and Chocolate Mille-feuille for a touch of foodie heaven!
