To coincide with St. David’s Day we take a look at five hotels in different locations in Wales. From a cool and vibrant city centre location to the dramatic Welsh countryside, we’ve selected hotels that can be hired for corporate events, meetings, weddings and celebrations. In addition, these hotels in Wales offer event organisers access to delegate day rates and 24-hour delegate rates for overnight stays.
Celtic Manor Resort, Wales
Set in the Coldra Woods in the Usk Valley in Gwent, the Celtic Manor Resort is a Welsh winner on many levels. It’s award-winning, having been voted the Best UK Hotel seven times and voted Top Conference Venue five times.
Facilities are impressive. The list of venues, function rooms and suites is too long to count but rest assured, event organisers and meeting bookers will not be disappointed. The Welsh venue also has great scope for different events. Adding a theme to a large room for up to 1,000 guests is not a problem here. From company branding to a car launch to including a theme where a grand room is transformed into the big top; it’s all possible.
There is of course expert support from the on-site events and technical team and catering at Celtic Manor Resort is excellent.
This venue isn’t just for large banquets, celebrations and conferences. A smaller meeting and a training day are equally at home.
Another big tick for the Celtic Manor Resort is its accessibility as it’s just five minutes from the Severn Bridge, 45 minutes from Cardiff and Bristol airports and just 90 minutes from London Heathrow Airport. Great Western Railways operate from London Paddington or for delegates travelling from other UK rail stations, select Newport station as the destination as this is only a short ride from the venue.
Jurys Inn Cardiff, Wales
We cannot delve into the wonderful event venues of Wales and not call into the capital city. Cardiff is two hours from London via the train and is a mix of historic buildings, a revitalised and popular waterfront and a vibrant arts and cultural scene. It’s also home to the Principality Stadium where Wales play international rugby and football.
The Jurys Inn Cardiff is in an enviable location in the city centre. It’s within walking distance of Cardiff Queen Street rail station, Cardiff Castle and is great for shopping and live entertainment.
Dating back to the Victorian era, the hotel is striking and stylish and offers contemporary and comfortable meeting facilities in a choice of nine function rooms, all of which have air-conditioning. Two suites can accommodate up to 250 guests in each space which is impressive for a city centre hotel.
Jurys Inn Cardiff has a dedicated events team to assist with all aspects of event planning and implementation. In addition, the day delegate packages include unlimited refreshments, a selection of fruit and sweets, and a hot or cold lunch which can be served in a dedicated break-out area or the hotel’s restaurant.
At the end of the business day, the hotel’s Harlech Lounge is the place to go! It has the largest cocktail menu in Cardiff! And for dining head to the Social Restaurant where a modern menu of home-cooked favourites will satisfy the hungriest of delegates!
Village Hotel Swansea, Wales
Village Hotel Swansea offers everything a guest or delegate would need under one roof. There is a choice of guest rooms which is great for an event planner that has company directors or key speakers attending. An upgrade to a Club Room provides guests with a coffee machine and luxury toiletries plus a full Sky HD package. In addition, access to the state-of-the-art Business Club and complimentary use of the Health Club and Mega Pool are included in the upgrade.
Meeting facilities include the Inspiration Suite which benefits from its own private foyer and can accommodate up to 200 guests. Smaller meeting rooms are located in the meetings hub which has its own café where delegates can enjoy unlimited hot and cold refreshments and snacks.
Another great service at the Village Hotel Swansea is the high-speed WiFi. There’s no limit on the number of devices using this free service so everyone can stay in touch. North Wales
For a hotel in North Wales with meeting facilities, the Holiday Inn A55 Chester West is a good choice, especially for delegates travelling from the Midlands, Manchester, Liverpool and Chester which is just 15 minutes away. It’s also a superb location for business travellers who need to visit Deeside Industrial Park and St. Asaph Business Park as they are both less than a 30 minute-drive.
The North Wales hotel has four function rooms. The Vivaldi Suite is the largest and welcomes up to 220 delegates. In addition, this suite has doors which open onto a landscaped garden. This creates a lovely space for delegates to network or enjoy a break. It’s also popular in the summer with brides and grooms celebrating their wedding day.
St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club
How about hosting a meeting or event in a room called St. David in a hotel called St. Pierre? This Welsh gem is in beautiful Monmouthshire, in the South East of Wales and along with superb meeting facilities, St. Pierre Marriott Hotel and Country Club has two championship golf courses, a spa and leisure facilities.
The stunning 14th century property sits in 400 acres of parkland that are perfect for team-building events. If you decide to hold a meeting in the room named St. David, you can welcome up to 40 delegates for a theatre-style event or 24 with a hollow horseshoe layout. The St. Pierre Suite accommodates up to 220 for a lunch or dinner and 180 guests in a cabaret room layout.
