It’s easy to find conference spaces, meeting rooms or hire a venue for an event with St George as inspiration! Dating back to the Tudor period, England’s patron saint day is on 23 April and celebrations can include parades, Morris dancing and Punch and Judy shows. To coincide with St George’s Day, we’re shining the spotlight on three venues sharing the saint’s name and offering meeting rooms, conference areas and event spaces to spur on delegates to dragon slaying success!
The St. George Hotel
Located in the heart of the historic spa town of Harrogate and just a short drive from the Yorkshire Dales, The St George Hotel is perfectly positioned for providing a lesson in history with many architectural gems and National Trust properties nearby.
The Edwardian building retains lots of traditional character and charm. Event organisers have a choice of seven superb function rooms and 81 guest rooms. A dedicated events teams are on hand to help with all requirements.
Conference spaces, suites & meeting rooms
The Wharfedale Suite features a stained glass dome and large bay windows which let lots of natural daylight into the room which can accommodate up to 150 delegates for theatre-style events or 120 guests for lunch. Blackout curtains are available if needed, dimmer lighting and easy access to the hotel’s gardens and a barbecue area.
The Swaledale Suite is the largest meeting room available for conferences, exhibitions and seminars. Situated on the ground floor it offers access from the front and back of the hotel. If breakout space is important, the Calderdale Suite is perfect as the annex provides an additional area for refreshments while The Nidderdale Suite is perfect for a boardroom meeting for 20 or combine it with the Calderdale Suite to create a larger space for entertaining up to 80 guests for a reception, 60 for a sit-down meal or 32 delegates in a classroom set-up.
For residential stays, there’s an array of things to do. The elegant on-site restaurant provides a menu with locally sourced ingredients, while the bar serves local real ales. Nearby attractions include The Royal Pump Museum and Harrogate International Centre.

Hilton at St George’s Park
Set in 330 acres of Staffordshire countryside the Hilton at St George’s Park boasts world-class conference spaces and meeting rooms offering event organisers and meeting bookers the very latest technology and AV equipment. The Sir Bobby Robson Ballroom Suite is a diverse event space for up to 500 delegates attending a conference and 360 guests at banquet style events.
The dedicated education complex is great for meetings, tutorials and seminars. The largest room holds up to 96 delegates for theatre style layouts.The large 2400 square metre sports hall is located within the National Sports Centre offering a completely blank canvas which is ideal for organisers looking to put their own twist on a meeting, conference or exhibition.
To relieve any organisational stress, an event coordinator is on-hand with technical support to ensure events run smoothly.
If you have some time to breakout and unwind or are looking to turn your visit into a 24 hour package, an on-site health club awaits, along with Alton Towers, Drayton Manor and the National Forest Adventure Farm all nearby.

George Hotel
Close to Hadrian’s Wall, the George Hotel in Northumberland offers meeting bookers a choice of five function rooms.
Spaces
The Kielder Suite is the largest, accommodating up to 50 delegates and is an excellent conference space and also ideal for cabaret style events. The River Suite is on the first floor and is ideal for smaller receptions for 40 guests. It has a large, open fireplace which is a nice feature and as the name suggests, it has super views over the river.
The Riverside Restaurant can host up to 100 delegates and for a smaller boardroom meeting either the River or Chester room are ideal.
For overnight stays, the hotel has 47 guest rooms. Make time to discover the wonderful garden which has fabulous water features and colourful plants or venture a little further afield and visit Northumberland National Park, Kielder Forest Park, the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty and the famous Hadrian’s Wall, which are all close-by.
