Event Venues: Recent Renovations

Across the UK, several prominent hotels and event venues have undergone impressive transformations, blending modern design with enhanced functionality. From refreshed interiors to upgraded event spaces, these newly renovated destinations are ready to welcome organisers and delegates alike.

Here’s a look at some standout venues that have redefined their hospitality offering.

The Met Hotel

Already one of Leeds’ leading venues for meetings, events and conferences, The Met Hotel has reached a new level of sophistication following a stunning £17 million refurbishment.

Guests are now greeted by a beautifully redesigned lobby. Timeless elegance meets modern comfort, creating the perfect first impression for corporate and leisure visitors alike.

The star of the transformation is the Met Ballroom, a breathtaking event space beneath a soaring domed
ceiling. With its grand architecture and refined finish, it provides an unforgettable backdrop for a host of events. From gala dinners to large‑scale conferences and product launches, this venue is ideal.

As part of the refurbishment, the hotel has also invested in sustainable upgrades. These include new double-glazed windows, a solar-panelled roof, and electric vehicle charging points, making The Met not only one of the city’s most stylish venues but also one of its most eco-conscious.

AC by Marriott Hotel Glasgow

Having undergone a multi million pound restoration, AC by Marriott Hotel Glasgow has transformed their historic Victorian Collectors Hall into a stunning event space. The development has added a new dimension to the four-star hotel, which was already earning a reputation as one of Glasgow and Scotland’s finest.

With deep historical significance, the new events space has been sensitively restored, retaining period features where possible. Designers for the project wanted to “seamlessly blend historic charm with modern elegance.” The Collectors Hall can host a diverse range of events, accommodating up to 120 seated guests or 200 standing.

AC by Marriott Hotel Glasgow has reemerged as a sleek, design-led destination following these extensive renovations. The refreshed interiors showcase the brand’s signature modern minimalism, complemented by sophisticated finishes and an emphasis on comfort.

De Vere Tortworth Court

Set on the southernmost edge of England’s idyllic Cotswolds, De Vere Tortworth Court’s recent restoration celebrates its rich heritage while embracing modern sophistication. A £1.3 million investment has enhanced the venue. It’s retained its period character and introduced contemporary furnishings and the latest technology.

With 145 of its 201 bedrooms upgraded, the hotel’s refurbishment has also included the addition of 55 new Mansion House Rooms and the renovation of 37 Courtyard Rooms.

Located in the hotel’s original library, the 1853 Restaurant and Library Bar has also undergone refurbishment. Again, keeping many of its original features, including oak panelling, ornate archways and a grand fireplace, the restaurant now offers booth and banquet-style dining, ideal for groups or guests seeking a more intimate setting.

De Vere Tortworth Court perfectly combines tradition with innovation, delivering an unforgettable setting for corporate events.

The hotel has recently opened its beautiful new Restaurant Bar, The Artful Critic. Inspired by the literary icons of Bloomsbury and featuring a menu of reimagined classic comfort dishes, The Artful Critic offers a curated, warm atmosphere, ideal for a pre‑dinner cocktail or a relaxed family meal.

Once completed in summer 2026, the transformed public areas at Holiday Inn Bloomsbury will provide an excellent setting for business lunches, a relaxed bite to eat or an after-work drink, as well as a perfect base for
productive meetings and memorable events. All 316 bedrooms will also have been redesigned for a modern
and comfortable stay, allowing guests and delegates to unwind after a busy day of business in the capital.
